How is energy lost in respiration? And why is the loss in respiration higher in winter?

What could a farmer do to reduce the lost energy to a minimum?

I would really appreciate it if you could help me and give me simple (not so technical) answers!

    The info ive got for you look into life in the cold by peter marchand.
    For you look into life in winter and within the body the plant or dehydration thats.
    The energy isnt necessarily being lost but converted to heat the info ive got for you look.
